Security questionnaire allowances explained
Short answer
A questionnaire allowance is the number of customer security questionnaires a plan's automation will handle per year. Vanta publishes 25 per year on Plus and 144 on Professional, and Sprinto publishes 20 per year on Foundation; the other vendors in our census list questionnaire features without a count.

Once you sell to larger customers, security questionnaires arrive with almost every deal: long spreadsheets or portals asking how you handle access, encryption, incidents and vendors. Compliance platforms automate answers from your policies and evidence, and some price that automation by volume.
Who publishes a number
- Vanta: Questionnaire Automation at 25 per year on Plus, and 144 questionnaires per year on Professional. Essentials does not list questionnaire automation in our read.
- Sprinto: AI security questionnaire automation at 20 per year on Foundation.
Who lists the feature without a count
- Drata Foundation includes AI Questionnaire Assistance Standard.
- Secureframe lists questionnaire automation on Complete, a quote-based plan, not on Fundamentals.
- Scytale offers AI security questionnaires, filled by AI and reviewed by a human expert. It says this helps share completed security reviews 85% faster, which is a vendor claim.
- Scrut and Thoropass publish no plan, so no allowance.
How to size your allowance
Count last year's questionnaires, then adjust for your sales plan. If you have no history, count open enterprise deals: most will send one. Add a margin, because a single deal can bring more than one questionnaire when procurement and security teams ask separately.
Then compare your number with the published tiers. At 10 a year, Vanta Plus and Sprinto Foundation both cover you. At 30, Sprinto Foundation's 20 is exceeded and Vanta's Plus limit of 25 is exceeded; Vanta Professional covers up to 144. Above 144, no published allowance covers you.
What an allowance does not tell you
A count says how many questionnaires the automation handles, not how well. It also does not say who reviews the answers. Scytale describes human expert review of AI answers; others describe AI suggestions you review yourself. Vanta cites a 95% acceptance rate for its AI suggestions, a vendor claim we cannot check.
What a trust center changes
A public trust center can reduce questionnaire volume, because some customers accept published security documentation instead. Vanta, Drata, Secureframe and Sprinto list a trust center on a published plan, and Scytale offers a Trust Center product. It will not remove questionnaires, but it can lower the count you need to buy.
